Excellent meeting and day out.

Congratulations to Ren & Tweeter Box on well planned and executed Amp test.

Someone else can provide detailed pics and commentary.

Ren Brought full 4x scoop system - SteveBs/PD1850s on sub

Tweeter Box the same - Turbomax 1500/Marvin Mini's on sub.

Void Inf8 MK2 Reference Torroidial - Drew upto 14A on Ren's set, apparently 19A on TWeeter Box stack, all thru 13A plug...

Couple of pics,

Ren's stack

Tweeter Stack (Shortman mini next to stack waiting to be tested)

In short, the Results "IMHO"

1. Powersoft K10 - The Ruler - Tremendous sub and SPL across the four scoops, no notes missing or premature sub roll off

2. Powersoft K8 - More of the same, just bit less aggressive

3. Crown ITECH-8000 - As good as people say and the suprise of the day.. Not the force/SPL of K10, but many preferred the musical notes,
and said low extension even exceeded K10.

4. PL380 - The amp I really came to hear... Not the same force as above 2x, but all the Low notes.. Sounds as QSC should

5. PKN - Sounded even better than I heard at "Rice n Peas", and seriously did notes with power, but not quite as musical as PL380

6. Crest 9200 - Not played on Ren's System, was OK but not impressive on Tweeter Box Stack

7. Matrix XT 6000 - Sounded really deep and powerful, until it blew... Second amp started burning shortly after..

Labs would have been nice.

BP has some.

Folks, try to advertise this in other sections next time, it got missed by a few of us in the Roots section next door.
IE> BP could have brought Labs.....

So the Matrix blew?

This in 4r bridge I'm guessing?

Congrats on a good meet smiley20

Was 4 ohm stereo mate.. Tweeter's stack was 4x maxes', Ren's was 4x '50s..

The real point of the test was, can lightweights power 4x "roots" scoops better on 13A supply, better than "juice slurping" heavy torroidials.

Ren's Mids/Tops sounded divine (Driven by Matrix Lightweights supplied by Ebony Showcase).

For some reason all the FFA/E90/LabG Owners boycotted the event..

Really needed those to authenticate test, but many rumours/chinese whispers put to bed "finally".

Test was very fair indeed, was more about warmth/sound quality, as opposed to measuring ear splitting SPL.

So things gave up in 4r stereo?

Lev, I know Barry wont mind, should you ever need to test a Lab..

FFA would have been interesting you know, could well be suited to the scoop sound?

However: As you say the Powersoft/PL380 and PKN are cool, which of those can we find cheap/used.

Inf8 is £100/1200 s/h, are any of these lightweights around for that yet?

Edit: Crystal Pro have big Labs for 1200 plus VAT

Not really looking for PL380, PKN, Inf8MK2.

Seriously considering just buying heavyweight for 4x ohm bridging across 2x scoops (Deton Aone 4400 smiley2 ), and just hiring K10 or ITECH-8 for 4x scoop gigs.

Das ist nicht groß genug, Kommandant

Think rule of thumb is, for playing very heavy roots material, high quality, obscenely hi powered lightweights, drive 2x scoops per channel on 13A nicely...
