It's also used to calculate the drivers sensitivity (although most manufacturers use sensitivity figures from a rampant marketing department). n0 (a.k.a. Eta Zero a.k.a Reference Efficiency) is calculated from the Fs, Qes and Vas as follows:
Fs^3 x Vas / Qes x 9.6E--8
Half space sensitivity: 112 + 10 x log (n0/100)
So for the L15P540
50^3 x 100 / 0.41 x 9.6E-8 = 2.93%
112 + 10 x log (0.0293) = 96.7 dB/W/m
As most 4" VC drivers have a lower Fs,you would have to raise Vas and lower Qes a bit to compensate.
