New, confused but willing to learn!! was created by hiltonsm
Hi all,

Had a look around on different forums and this one seemed to stand out as the best one, hope I am right!

I have a cnc flat bed router in my garage and plenty of 3d cad design experience, always fancied making some proper speakers for my karaoke setup at home so hopefully you guys can point me in the right direction.

Looking at making a couple of medium sized cabs to start with that will give me some good quality sound, any suggestions on which plans to go with first as looking through the ones on the site it all looks like a bit of a jungle at the minute!

Cool..

Have you any experience of CNC'ing/building speaker cabs previously?

Absolutely no experience in building speaker cabs but lots of experience CNC'ing and with 3D cad, if I can draw it in my cad system then I can generate the cnc programs to cut them. Manufacturing the cabs does not worry me its the design and what needs to go in them I need help with.

Been looking at buying some ready made ones off the shelf but I really like the idea of making my own and learning along the way, never did like the easy option!

Thanks..

Be prepared for plenty of forum members offering you money to CNC cabs for them... I maybe one of them..

Can your flat bed accomodate 1200mmx780mmx18mm sheet ?

Bed size on the current machine is 600mm x 1000mm but I can shuffle the material along the 1000mm length and cut it in 2 or 3 go's so not restricted to 1000mm lengths. Machine will cut wood, aluminium etc and is very accurate! I built the machine myself and at the time I was looking at cutting carbon sheet for RC helicopter frames which is why i went for a the bed size that I did. Been looking for an excuse to build a bigger machine so if there is enough interest then I could always look at putting together a bigger bed machine later.

If you need anything doing at the moment and if you can work within the 600mm max width with a 500mm cutting area then I will be happy to help out.

Will dig some photo's out and post them so you can get a better idea of the limitations of the machine.

Is it beyond feasibility, to construct a flatbed that could accomodate 8'x4' ?
