Superscooper 18 Discussion/Scoop Design was created by levyte357
Keep getting asked about modding already built Superscooper 18 to work well with PD1850..

Thinking below is one possibility

a) Removing Dogleg (Restrains chamber to 44L)
b) Extending rear baffle
c) Modding throat/horn start

E.g below rough mod of orig drawing,

"Classic gap" :lol:

Throat volume is accurate title.

Throat forms beginning of horn, also dictating compression, and should be compatible with driver qts, Vas.

Different "throat" suits different drivers, and affects cab depth, spl, throw.

Ask Paulus about different scoop throats and resulting different scoop characteristics.

Standard Scooper 18 throat volume is 799cm2, larger than many scoops. The Problem here is chamber volume.

Was "told" ASS RX18 (well known for having tight/small chamber) is approx 65L-70L. The Scooper 18 chamber volume is constrained by dogleg to only 44L !!!! smiley11

Dogleg needs to be removed to alleviate restricted chamber size, however also required is some type of throat estimation that induces decent compression ratio and SPL.

Roll on all the complaints about non uniform horn expansion rates... :lol:

@Nick,

Removing dogleg will already release sufficient chamber volume.

The remaining problem is to re-engineer "sufficient" compression ratio, to maintain SPL/Throw.

what if you made the front baffle longer, and the back of the chamber shorter by 30mm........
