Reflex design? was created by guitarplayerjoe
Hi guys! smiley20

I'm really wanting to build my own little dub soundsystem, but really need something to go on top of the 2 15" scoops to act as kick/mid.
After listening to some other soundsystems I really like reflex cabs like the 2x15" reflex used on the Iration Steppas Soundsystem.

I would like to use two Sovereign 12-300's in a similar design and run them from 110-300hz but can't seem to find plans or any other opinions on using reflex bins for kick. Could anyone possibly help me or tell me if the enclosures i plan to build are suitable?

I am a bit of a newbie in these depths so any knowledge shared i am grateful for. smiley1

Thanks a lot guys!

Here you go, that's a pint. I did these a while back for the Sov12-300's enjoy.

Although what would you do for bracing the enclosure?

Just stick the wood inside or would you have to build it a little bit bigger so there is enough volume inside for the speaker?

As Tgee says its is a small box so the bracing shown is adequate. Don't forget the wadding, 2" egg-box foam or similar on all the inside faces except the baffle. The tuning will be slightly out without this.

Thanks for the advice. smiley20

Actually i was planning on using polyester wadding as it seems really cheap. What do you think? smiley1

If that's the same stuff that they stuff toys with then that should be fine, allow about 2" thick on the faces as described.

In smallish cabs the stuffing or lack of it can seriously upset the box tuning Fb

Thank you for posting these plans. I'm currently constructing some mini scoops. I wonder if this box could be used above a couple of ms18? If so, how low could I cross over @ to meet the subs or should I be going for 15" plans instead? Any help is appreciated. Thx.
