has anyone tried the PD neo 12" as a heavyweight alternative

I don't do it that way Tony, I first listen to the driver in free air, then add a back bowl then the horn, out of 3 drivers on both tests the PD121 came out bottom

PD
RCF
B&C

the difference between the pd121 and the B&C was like removing a blanket

So far, budget has limited my favourite MT121 drivers to PD123ER & Celestion TN1230 (Neo).

Fane Col 12MB and Emmy Kappa Pro 12 also sound nice, but are heavy, don't quite go as high, and often don't fit in standard MT121s, depending on build hatch/driver chamber.

The TN1230 can be had for around £80, are there any other worthwhile Neos around at that price range?

I got the pd121 in my mx600 as well. They do sound a bit dull. Was thinking of changing them for B&C. Tony are they a direct fit?

@ Saul, what crossover slope do you use for your mx600? also I run mine pd121 right up to around 6k using BSS minidrive but I'm sure I can hear them changing even up to 10k. Might be the joys of running a digital xover also each manufacturer algorithms must differ. Eg if running L/R 24 it's going to sound different on different manufacturers units. Even the Eq features.

to be fair i've never compared my PD121s next to another driver.....

filter types

12" hp : 24 LR
160hz
12" lp: 18 BW
1.6khz - 3Khz, depends what we're doing.
2" hp: 24 BW

0.499ms delay on the 2" to meet the 12" nicely ( might adjust when crossing at different freq's)

the 12" seem to run ok up to 3k strangely, i guess the phase plugs are being very effective, but i tend to cross lower. when the previous owner told me he was crossing at 3k, i was very surprised

Marjan@SP is selling SN12Bs for €80, with shipping to UK €30 for 4x.

Question is, are recone kits readily availabe in UK?
