They were the plugs out of the MX series of cabs. Thankfully I don't have to do them any more.

seen a few methods

as you say, main ones:

cradle method- goes in between driver and horn itself and then plug fixes to the cradle

or the turbosound/ASS way

i know which i prefer...

tony you need to stop posting pics of your art up, it gets me all excited... lol. again fantastic stuff...... if mine turn out any where near these ill be happy. Do you use a lathe to make them....[/quote
I've never had a wood turning lathe, so I've had to use an unconventional method with the plugs I made, you need a very big sander.

I had some thought about this. So the material and the thickeness belong to the weight of plug. So I guess if using foam for the plug is good.
I want to cover it with carbody filler and then make the support with steel wires like centauri.

I personally prefer the turbo/ASS way because it makes the throat nice and rigid, and doesn't put the baffle/flange of the horn under any more pressure than necessary, which is an issue with fibreglass.

with wood horns not so much, but i like the idea of it bracing the throat

I'm quite sure that if you got hold of a plug that has only thin flanges for support at the baffle board, you could move it. When the plug supports are more of an integral part of the plug and fixed into the sides of the horn, it becomes really rigid and stable. My method was always to screw through the inside of the flare into the flange. This pulled the plug tight into the horn. On all the MX cabs, the hatches on the sides are purely access panels for this purpose.
