The curvy flares won't have proper directivity.
The messy drawing I did was a 'diffraction slot' type design. Basically, since the thin horizontal width helps with controlling dispersion by means of diffraction at HF - the horizontal expansion then guides the waves, continuing the horn for better loading as well.
3.85" = 3517hz.

check my thread www.freespeakerplans.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=616 , the horn mouth's dimensions are the same of mt101b52productions wrote: .....

Just to clarify. The defraction situation is a fixed science and there's not anything you can really do to change the theory. Whatever the x\o point is (within the speaker spec), you would certainly get what you want out of the cab, but only directly on axis. You would get everything dispersing under the critical measurement where the wave length is longer than the straight part of the horn. Everything higher would come at you like water out a hose pipe, with no horizontal dispersion. (Unless someone has some tricks up their sleeve.) When it comes to building horns I never found I could do much more in principle than I did with the MX600 or any of the derivatives.
Short horns will go higher but won't have the long throw capability. It's a bit of a dilemma really.

thanks tony i get what you mean on dispersion, if the figure "763hz" is correct and you sound like you would know LOL.
Could my lack of lack of dispersion from say 800-2500hzbe aided by the placement of small fins made of material ie. plexiglass. aluminum etc. of a specified width help difraction up to the x-0ver point.
just an idea :
or would this have an ill effect?Edited by: b52productions

The rules are quite simple. If you want sixty degrees horizontal dispersion, you have to make a sixty degree horn. Waves go where they are guided. All mid horns are a compromise, as it is impractical to make, a mid horn, for example, as long as it should be.
