I think you should enclose the mid speaker in a smaller enclosure. A small box around the speaker is important when you are horn loading the devise. It is needed to help match the high pressure created for the cone at the mouth of the horn. If there is not much back pressure, your mid will sound lifeless. I discovered this many years ago with my own experiments.

thanks tony i did close the mids off to a square rear enclosure.. it also saved my problem with 1/4" jacks for my tweeters.. was worried i would have to seal the jack plates off, but not now
