Some guidelines.

344/f/4 is the quarter-wave length of a horn.
In this case, it is roughly 2.4-2.5m in my head in a perfect world.
A more ideal situation would be a 1/2 wave horn, with twice the horn length.
So basically, the more, the merrier.

The horn's acoustic horn length will be a little longer than the physical length.
So we can compromise as usual.

Anyone new to HR, join in the fun and games.
But remember, don't try a too high compression ratio. 2-3 is fine.

I will try to stick within the 1x1x0.636m constraints.

Wait...what driver should we all decide on? What is the budget?

void v1000
pd1850
possible a b & c 18"???

use 1.0m x 1.2m x 0.636m [external dim] as a initial starting pointingas i can see from the cad model it will need to be tall to accomodate a decent rear chamber

Heathy, the idea I saw was the one in the colour drawings.

I know this has been covered before....

But what is an acceptible/sensible compression ratio for 15" or 18" bass horns? obviously, it depends on cone strength, and the ammount of power being pumped in.... Does having a large front chamber before the horn reduce the stresses on the cone?

Deadbeat - as a rule of thumb is 3:1 ok on a bass horn then?

gets some more length to it

the scale isn't right for an 18
maybe a 15, unless you make it higher
