Well, there is a "weather resistant sheet rock" -type, atleast in the states. I think it's just the same ol' plaster board with a mold-resistant treatment.
I've never heard of / seen sheetrock outside and i think its for a reason. I totally get the acoustic wievpoint though.

Sorry HansA, but i couldn keep from seeing a problem in not using a vapour barrier. The condensation point can't be estimated in any way, you might get moisture condensed anywhere in the structure, even if the cladding/panelling would be water tight.

Thanks Cal!

The NEXT layer.
Then airgap.
Then new panneling matching the rest of the wall. :D
The whole barn is getting new panelling on top of the old.

If you worry about the condensation I'm sure i will find a vapour barrier when i get back.
The PROFESSIONAL carpenters will see to have it installed if necessary.

Work on the control room has satarted. One side is almost all finished.. I'm getting a bit bored with plasterboard. But the end is in sight. Gotta find strength.

2 layers of plasterboard is done in the control room. Just begun spackling a little.
Still alot todo. All the electric, the ventilation, the signalcable paths and plenty of details.

Before i start the other side of the wall i cut the window out of the control room side.

Finaly. it looks like a room. The feeling is incredible. New inspiration.

This is the floor swill, showing how the two opposite walls are of different weight and stiffness to ensure different resonant frequensies.

I've started the work of tubes and boxes.

The switches, 2x3, 2 switches for each room.1x3 for basic lighting and 1x3 for extra moodsetting lighting.

Two sets of powerlines aswell. 1 data line and a sensitive equipment line. Like mic pres and guitaramps.

I've chosen a simple and efficient method of insulating the boxes. Rude mold of cardboard, drownd in plasterboard dust, then i spray polyetheran fome behind it.

Concept of cable-tunnel and ventilation-tunnels.

90* angle

110mm straight

This is a damping material for parquet and other flooring. Works great for my need.

Some brutal solution for the cable-tunnel. But hey. Its very cheap and it works.
Just the tube does'nt start working before 200Hz. But there will be more housing on the outside of the wall.

I've started the plasterboarding in the enormous "vocal booth" or, if you can call it super damped room.
But then the nailgun quit on me.. The 30 year old compressor didnt like work outside in -12*C.

There are no wiring in the walls. JEIJ!

Alright! Spring is coming to tractor country. Its Ayeh Oh Kay!! to be working in my second floor studio.

-

But back to the plasterboard. All the woodwork is done. More plasterboard. That will be my life the next days, then its over to *thegraystuffyouputonplasterboardjoints* and acrylic. Allot of acrylic. Have used 30 0.33l tubes until now.

-

This is the control room. The two layers on the opposite room is not yet cut.

For the curious and near sighted.

-

Bad light setting for my cheap cam.

-

The walls ended up beeing 24cm deep.
