18" fane speaker was created by Lee300zx
I have just been given a 18" fane speaker by one of my friends. I have been looking for a box design and not having much luck.
Thought i would join and ask on here for some help/advice.
This is the info on the back of the speaker
fane
Studio
Colossus
18 Bass
400 Watts
I really want to build a box and start using the speaker so any help would be grateful

Hi Lee,
What are you going to use it for, home or PA? Xmax is only 4 mm and you have only one so your options are kinda limited for PA. Cubo 18 Extended, with the magnet in the chamber, 40 Hz high pass and 500 Watt amplifier would give a good stand alone result.
Best regards
Cubo

No, the Cubo 18 Extended would be better suited for PA (the designs on this site are PA-oriented) At home I would use a Cubo Sub (though output wise that would be overkill), you'll need less than 100 W, to declare war on the neighbours.
If it's mainly for music I wouldn't go much lower than 30 Hz (like Cubo Sub), if it's mainly home theatre, I would look for a design that goes down to 20 Hz, that would probably come out to be some kind of tapped horn (TQWT, etc.)
Best regards
Cubo
