Speaker Inpidence? was created by Beowolf
Hi:

My question is about speaker Inpedence.

I have two 4 ohms speakers.
I would like to know if I am right in my statement that follows.

"If I connect two (2) 4 ohms (impeadence) speakers in series,
would I not endup with a 8 ohms setup?

eg: 4 ohms + 4 ohms = 8 ohms ?

In peralel they would stay as 4 ohms, right?

PS: I wish to place two (2) 4 ohms subwoofers in series in an inclosuer with
two 4 ohms tweeter also in series, and end up with an 8 ohms system.

Please help!

Nope,

two 4 ohm speakers in parallel will give you 2 ohms

1(1/4 + 1/4) = 2

but .. good news ..

what you need is a crossover .. this will feed the bass to the bass spekers and the treble to the tweeters and still give you 8 ohms on the output

infact you ust use a crossover, even if its as simple as a series C to the tweeters, because feeding bass to the tweters is a sure fire way to kill them
