It seems like you know your stuff Bee!! smiley20
Im trying to keep costs down a little wiv this project but at the same time I dont want to compromise too much on the sound quality. Cubo's seem the way to go with sub as they look quite simple to build and I could get away with a cheaper driver to start with. i think USB's are going to be more expensive to build and run. What would you recomend for kick that is fairly easy and cheap to build yet sounds good.
I like the look and ease of build of the SMT 212 fro midtop, but heard that there is problems to be had with both drivers being so close to each other smiley29
Thanks Guys smiley20

easy to build would be a reflex cab, you could look at a double 18 for the kick region...... Alot of systems run this way. You would want it to work from 80hz to 200hz, but cross over the reflex around 90hz and 150 hz,
cubo 35hz to 90hz
reflex mid (kick) 90hz to 150hz
tops 150hz upwards....
Ive heard a few people as about the cubo sounding honky..... but they cross it over at 150 plus..... The 8 that ben ember runs sounds very good but he crosses them over at 90hz, we have run them up to 120hz straight to the tops with no kick, this allso sounds very good for a small rig. But due to the type of music that gets played he opted for kicks as well.
If your out and about to night all 8 cubos will be in action, at the horse and barge in hairfield for an event for point blank radio.... the cubos will be in the out side marque area... but you will need to arrive early as there is limited tickets on the door left.....

How would the X1 fair against the Cubo 18 in terms of ease and cost of building, price of the driver and sound produced etc etc. smiley20

the x1 is a very different kind of box, sound wise the x1 is a good box, but its very very easy to blow your drivers up in, as too much power in to driver and it will blow with no warning, by the time you hear it its too l8t......

the es18 is a totaly differant cab the es18 is for kick use, the x1 is for sub base...... all drivers can be blown in all cabs by putting too much power in to them, but alot of designs you will hear tell tale signs that the drivers are being pushed too hard, cabs like the x1 you dont get any warning one minute it is fine the next say buy to the driver...... ive not heard of any issues with the es18's and drivers not liking them.......
