Midrange compression drivers

Seems like they are rather cheap and loud. if a goodhorn was used, would they sound decent for smaller systems?

I don't know about cheap. The cheapiest 2" midrange comp driver I've seen is about 250 dealer cost. Most of them only go down to about 400hz and thats if you get the real expensive ones.

they got some at partsexpress for $40, one inch i believe. just made me wonder

Out of interest, I looked at the spec of this driver, It's amazing what manufactures will print. The Mid range /HF driver comes in at 1K. There won't be much mid in that.

I looked at that, its the Selenium 1" comp driver and its specs say down to 500hz. Personally i would not trust a 1" comp driver below 1-1.2k. It may handle 500hz but for a split second in Selenium's sound chamber, not in the real world. That driver will pop the first time a heavy handed drummer hits the snare drum. IF you are looking for a good mid range comp driver then look at this
