A mate of mine here has some 1850's. I will borrow one from him to try it out in the cab. This is only a prototype for testing purposes. It will be altered for med/small/very small chamber size, also 4,5,&6 inch initial 'gap' opening (under rear baffle) and every combination of the two variables. :cheer:

I am looking forward to hear about your results.
With all the prototyping work you do, you should get a proper sound card and measuring mic. :)

Nice :)

If you haven't found some software yet, I can recommend Room EQ Wizard. It is a good place to start.

I bought this recently (still in box) www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?partnumber=390-792
and I also have another trial version Smaa_rt V.Seven which is awesome for comparison stuff. Hoping to borrow a SPL meter from someone too.

Looks interesting with a sound card directly build into the mic?

It says it comes fully calibrated, so you might not need a calibrated SPL meter.

You will still need an AC volt meter to make 1W/1M measurements.
Remember to use a sinusoidal signal and a good linear amplifier to calibrate your output stage.

I wanted to get a secondary SPL meter to put further away. I want to take SPL readings far and close without moving everything every time type of thing.
I have a couple of multimeters, but I am doing this more for A/B comparative testing than precise measurement of the cab etc. Pink noise, frequency response,...SPL.

When doing measurements of speakers I will recommend that you use a sine sweep.
Maybe you could start by doing both and then compare?

Could you measure the voltage and distance, even though it is not you primary intent?
It would make it easier to compare with measurements done by others.
If you have to measure the voltage of pink noise, you will need a true RMS volt meter.

I will also take some new measurements of the cabs I have build. Maybe we should start a thread where everyone can post the measurements they do? (Show of your speaker measurements)
It will probably first be in around half a year because I need to do the measurements outside and the weather will pretty much suck for the next 6 months in Denmark :S

The weather here is also awful. Think I will start a new thread in regards for measuring subs.
