Inrush resistor smokes then Curcuit breaker trips..... was created by MAutopsy
working on a Peavey 2600 right now. When powered up, the inrush resistor smokes then the resettable curcuit breaker blows. Cant seem to figure it out smiley19 . once had this happen on one of my old QSC amps, but never resolved the problem.. Any pointers?

Check output transistors.They generally short from collector to emitter. The bridge rectifier may be faulty ,or even the mains transformer. I would disconnect the ht plus and minus voltage from one driver board at a time. If this cures the problem,reconnect the driver/output stage boards one at a time . Once you have isolated the problems fix the faulty channel, or get it repaired if you unable to do it yourself !
