Blown....... crest audio fa901

Ive had an old amp of mine in the lock up for some time, i lent it out to a friend for xmas eve, due to it being in a cold lockup for months, i told him to keep it in side for a few days before powering it up. Unfortunatly he left it in the boot of his car, and pluged it straight in at the gig. It worked for 10 minutes fine then bang........ Now it goes straight into protect mode...... any ideas on whats wrong and how to fix.

I'm afraid I've not worked on those specific models in order to be much help diagnosing remotely but if you end up needing to send it somewhere I'm sure I'd be able to sort it out. It's very hard without having the amp on the bench in front of you with some basic test equipment.

cheers chris, ive tested most of the components with my tester and all seem fine, but still going in to protect mode. i only used this amp for a spare....... i could drop it down to you, but im not sure if its worth reparing..... cost wise..... when i opend it up there was a small amount of water sitting on the very bottom....... (surface water) not like a puddle or anything....

I doubt it's worth skipping. If nothing else, if you decided to write it off, I would probably repair it just for my own use running 'hi-fi' speakers or something! That and out of sheer curiosity of not having repaired one before.

Looks pretty clean and tidy to me, PCB looks normal.

ok ill arrange to drop it down to you, to fix, if its only a minor issue then let me now the price to fix it, if its a big issue and, u still want to fix it then you can have it........... smiley2
