Gauss Loudspeaker was created by MAutopsy
Hello,
As I was stubling through my unkown gear (My Brother in law recently passed, and left us with a garage full of gear. Hence, the sometimes odd driver questions and such i have.)

I Found two Cetec Gauss Loudspeaker Model 1841 Drivers. 10" and the plate says 8 ohm, but they both read 4 ohm with A marked on them in marker(assuming this is a recone)

Any info (Price, TS, interested?) Let me know.
Thanks for looking guys.
Mike

Did you mean they read 4 ohms with a meter or they had a sticker that said 4 ohms. If you read with a meter you would be getting the RE reading. My friend Mike Cotter who was Mr Gauss would know. He's not a member but info would not be a problem.

An 8 ohm speaker usually has a resistance that you would measure on a meter of around 5.3 ohms. That what I was getting at. If the speaker had a nominal impedance of 4 ohms, the Re would be less. If you look at the specs of any speaker, you will find 2 figures. one is nominal impedance, the other is the resistance of the voice coil, Re. I think you should assume that the speakers are 8 ohms.
