Hello, I hope all is well. I'm Getting ready to drop off wood for some SMT212's and I can't decide on a compression driver to throw in the bastards. I know I'm looking for a 1.4-2 inch exit and a 60x40 dispersion horn but that's about it. I'd like to keep it around 150-175 us per driver for the sake of my budget. Thanks!

Is that including, or excluding the horn? 1.4" drivers start around (at very least) 150 - 200 us per driver, excluding the horn. So for 150 - 175 you're looking at the "my-first-driver-series" of some brands, like Eminence, Radian and B&C.

Well, can you buff the budget? If not it's pretty much the cheapest 1.4" of those three brands or perhaps second hand.

I can, I suppose I can eat a bit more ramen.

Wouldn't mind some ramen myself. I would look into 1.4"/1.5" drivers with at least a 2.4" VC but preferably a 3" VC.

The Beyma CP-755/Ti comes to mind (one of the few showing 2nd and 3rd harmonic distortion), the Faital Pro 140-series (140, 144, 146) and off course any B&C drivers applying to the rules above.
