We are going to try to convert the forum to phpBB on sunday night.
After the converrsion is done all passwords will be reset. You will have to use the "I forgot my password" -function to get the your password.
Also all private messages will be lost.

The type of forum database doesn't dictate how much spam the forum will receive.

There are plenty of things you can do to negate pretty much all spam even on phpBBv2. 3 is much improved in that respect as well.

For some reason I can't login to any Fasthosts ftp accounts from home at the moment. So I'll try to do this from work.

Have you tried passive mode? also try CuteFTP... works fine on mine, but basic windows FTP barely works.

Forum engine, database, blah blah.
Let me try again.
The type of forum engine does not dictate the amount of spam the forum receives.
