Hi Mike I guess it had to happen sooner or later, The lure was too much to resist wasn't it. Perhaps we won't be the quiet side any more now you're here. I missed our little chats, so I'm glad you're here. Keep it coming.

Hi Tony!
First day didn't start off too well, HBL nearly banned me, banned on the first day, that would have been cool
still, did apologise to him
was in Singapore 2 days ago Tony, there is a whole building/mall dedicated to HIFI smiley32
the most beautiful amplifiers I have ever seen, and to my shock, one of the best NATURAL sounding cabs was with a single Fostex 3'' driver  , straight onto the amp, nothing in the chain smiley32
some pics for you
www.avantgarde-acoustic.de/hornl ... hp?lang=en
Don't know if you have ever been to Singapore Tony? but just to let you know, there are some serious HIFI people there, and most of the worlds Millionaires live there too
we need to talk about getting some of your models out there?

"HBL nearly banned me"
It says senior member on HBL profile. Mods, is HBL a mod, if so the profile needs changing?
First post Mykey, tut tut

Thanks for the Pics Mike, not sure about the last one, looks like you've got a large halo that's started to slip, although I guess that started to happen a long time ago. I've seen the Avent Garde stuff, they have good coverage in the States. I've also heard the Fostex in various guises. One is in a complete, very large. perspex horn. No phase problems with single units, that's the idea behind them. I still prefer a big four way job. I've just finished a job for a customer who is using the Lab 10k 4ch amps. I might try them on the Aura 4T's It's expensive but cheap compared with other methods.
Singapore has always been good for HI FI, I don't know why, perhaps it's the captive audience with the money.
One last thing, why do most of us like looking at big horns? answers on a post card please.

postcard from THE BIG TIPI IN THE LITTLE BIG HORN
Had a close look at the Avantgarde horns Tony, GET THIS smiley3 it looks to me like they have removed a cone from say for instance a 10'' driver, so now you are only left with a spider (maybe double) and the dust cap......the horns are sitting right up against the outer edge of the dust cap smiley1 and only the dust cap is on display
who knows :shifty:

That's an interesting concept. No cone phase problems, and the low end that goes missing through lack of cone is probably re-gained by the size of the horn. I guess it would sound clean and transparent.
Perhaps we could try this with some PD's that have ripped themselves apart.

Just remembered, I did wonder some time ago, whether it would be possible to couple the ATC 3" soft dome mid to a horn. Obviously, only for Hi Fi. Now you've got me thinking again. I don't like to do much thinking these days, it gets me into trouble.
