owned both and the mk1 used to get a bit hot in 4ohm stereo - mainly due to poor layout

Have had mk1 go bang just after getting it back from repairers, and there are many stories like that..

@luton, best to just steer clear of this amp..

Do some gigs, save some dosh, and buy another Mk2, IMHO.

Yeah think I might have to. interested in seeing how the lightweights/switchmodes perform at the amp test but would also like an inf8 v2 present as that is a good bench mark torroidal to compare everything to. still toying with the idea of 2 bridged amps but the price creeps up too close to in8 v2... smiley18

have you considered anything else?

can pick up other amps so cheap now: ma5000, ca18, etc.

haven't been impressed enough with anything yet to be honest. plus i need something to perform well on 13a. (big reason why im interested in the amp test coming up) void on 13a sounds like v5000/ca18's on 32a supplys. need something equally heavy but on 13a. what do you guys suggest?

IMHO, Don't recommend MA5000VZ/CA18 for driving 1850s really, "unless" on Generator or 32A.

There are other couple of options I'm currently researching for 13A use, but that's classified....
