4 ohm 1850s - Anybody tried them?

Few people like 4 ohm 2150s, so why not the 1850?

There's lots of hearsay and rumours, but would like to hear any first hand experiences.

Personally, forgetting all about 4 ohm 1850s myself...

I guess you just bring the right amp(s) for the power in the venue.

what about 16 ohm drivers and putting them all in parrall ob using nice think cable etc to feed the stack then bridging say a ca 18 would this be better or worst than 2x 4 ohm a side????just curious on damping factor etc

4 ohm driver per side of MA3600VZ or CA12/P2000 sounds nice on paper, question is, surely you would only be doing this in 13A venues?

Have personally seen Inf8Mk2 current draw upto 16A (on 13A plug) , with 2x cabs per channel (4 ohm stereo load).

Also don't "think" all Turbomax range is available in 4 ohms.

Paulus, a sound you know, not far from you, used to drive 4x 16 ohm 1850s in parallel on a 9001, and apparently sounded proper heavy...

(Deliberately not mentioning the name).. smiley2

thats why i asked lev  they were pretty un touchable and not a clip in sight!!!!!!just wondered about damping factor, surly the 2x4 ohm would sound tighter and the amp would be happier(back emf issues) as there would be 2 feeds from it as opposed to 1 with the 16 ohm-ers,tho its again a case of just try it and see

Not in same league bit I used to buy Wembley 4r drivers back in the day, blew loads. BP had issues with 16r later Wembley drivers, thinner wire suggesed as cause.
Had RMJ 4r 186's in Rhino, took loads of stick. Had 4r Studospares 18's, very easy to get flapping.
All the above proves nothing though, just as it happened.
Blah ramble
